– Roles close to me? These are several performances at once. When I was preparing the role of Poboyna in “Letter to God”, I dedicated it to my father, because the family had a similar situation. A very poignant topic… But a lot of things were invented together with the late director Igor Slavynsky. It would seem that 1947 is so far away, but it still affects the viewer. Because love, faith in people, help, compassion are what we always look for in each other. And now we also have difficult times..

– “Everything in a person should be beautiful.” This is what Dr. Astrov says in “Uncle Vanya”. Because it’s true. Not only the face, clothes, but also the soul and thoughts should be beautiful. Such is the rhythm of life that you run, hustle to get certain benefits, and sometimes you forget to think about your soul..

– As a child, I was a dreamer. I remember how in the first or second grade my classmates would gather around me – I would tell them about the films I supposedly watched. I was restless, loved to run and dance.

– What am I most afraid of? If someone close to me gets sick.. My mother is already 88 years old. I really want my relatives to be alive and healthy.

– Who would I never agree to play? It’s hard to say. Probably Lenin or any of the communists. Because at one time I had to play enough of them – you know, such positive characters – even while I was studying at the theater institute in the 1970s. I still remember the time when there was such a tradition. Because my appearance and all the data fit the type of “social hero”. That’s why I got the heads of collective farms, secretaries of party organizations, and these were emasculated characters – only positive traits. And it’s terrible.

– I have time to watch films. From the last one I watched, I recommend “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”. My grandson recommended it, he’s 15 – he’s already old enough. I want to say that Frances McDormand’s acting is really impressive. And right after that I watched “Bad Times at the El Royale”. There’s more action here, of course. But it’s also an interestingly twisted plot, a very modern approach to filming.

– The main thing is not to get “star sickness”. Because in fact, every time you take on a new role, you realize that you have to start all over again.

– If I weren’t an actor, I would still work with people. Maybe a teacher. I like communication. But in any case, it would be a humanitarian direction: literature or art.
